SCHED_S_SOME_TRIGGERS_FAILED

SCHED_S_SOME_TRIGGERS_FAILED means the task was registered, but not every configured trigger will start it. Registration therefore succeeded only partially; treating the result as an unconditional success can leave a scheduled action silently unavailable.

Preserve the registration evidence

  • Save the final task XML returned or exported after registration, not only the template supplied by the installer or script.
  • Check the Task Scheduler Operational log for the trigger-level diagnostic identified by Microsoft’s status description.
  • Compare trigger types and properties with the Windows versions and policies on the target machine. A task can be valid overall while a particular trigger is disabled, unsupported, or constrained.

Recovery

Identify and correct the failed trigger, then re-register or update the task and verify that the intended trigger is now active. Do not replace all triggers with a broad periodic trigger: that can change the task’s security and timing semantics.
