STATUS_HV_PENDING_PAGE_REQUESTS
Pending device page requests were abandoned during a transition
STATUS_HV_PENDING_PAGE_REQUESTS belongs to the Hyper-V device-assignment and memory-translation path. It is about outstanding page requests associated with a device, not about ordinary pageable memory inside the guest operating system.
Page requests are relevant when an assigned or I/O-remapped device needs permission or translation for guest physical memory. Seeing this status during teardown, reset, domain reassignment, or VM stop usually means that some requests were still queued when Hyper-V changed the object state and had to discard them instead of completing them normally.
What to correlate
- The device, partition, and I/O-remapping domain involved in the transition.
- Whether the request appeared during VM stop, device surprise removal, reset, reassignment, or failed startup.
- Outstanding DMA/page-request counters and any device driver timeout around the same moment.
- Whether the caller expects all device requests to drain before it destroys the mapping.
Useful distinction
This is not the same as STATUS_HV_PAGE_REQUEST_INVALID. That status points to an invalid access described by a page request; this one points to requests that were still pending and were discarded because the surrounding device or partition state changed.
