The graphics stack recovered but requested post-failure diagnostics
This informational status is associated with WDDM recovery paths in which the display stack remains operational after a driver or GPU fault. Recovery can reset the graphics adapter and reconstruct desktop state, but work submitted near the failure may be lost or incomplete.
Because the system recovered, the absence of a blue screen does not make the event harmless. Repeated recoveries can indicate a driver defect, unstable hardware, firmware problems, or workloads that exceed the GPU scheduling timeout.
What to inspect
- Collect the display-driver version, adapter firmware, Windows build, and workload active at the time.
- Preserve TDR-related event logs, live dumps, and vendor diagnostic reports before rebooting.
- Check whether the event follows a driver update, resume transition, GPU reset, or power-state change.
- Do not begin by disabling TDR; that can convert a recoverable hang into a permanently frozen system.
