STATUS_CLEANER_CARTRIDGE_INSTALLED
The selected library slot or drive contains a cleaning cartridge
Tape libraries distinguish cleaning cartridges from data cartridges. This warning prevents software from treating cleaner media as a backup volume. A changer can reserve a dedicated cleaner slot and report cleaning capabilities and timeouts through its parameters.
Inventory software should preserve the cartridge type and slot address. If the cartridge is in a drive, follow the library cleaning workflow and wait for completion or automatic return rather than issuing data reads. Barcode conventions alone are not a substitute for device-reported element status.
What to inspect
- Record changer, element address, barcode or volume tag, and cartridge type.
- Verify whether cleaning was requested and whether automatic dismount is supported.
- Do not add a cleaner cartridge to the ordinary data-media pool.
