VSS_E_PROVIDER_NOT_REGISTERED

VSS_E_PROVIDER_NOT_REGISTERED means that the provider GUID supplied to VSS does not identify a registered shadow copy provider. The requester cannot ask that provider to create or manage a snapshot.

How to investigate for VSS_E_PROVIDER_NOT_REGISTERED

List registered providers and verify the selected provider GUID and installation state.
Check whether a storage-vendor provider was removed, disabled, or replaced after the requester configuration was created.
Use the default provider only when its capabilities match the requested volume and snapshot context.
