FSRM_E_PROPERTY_MUST_APPLY_TO_FILES
FSRM_E_PROPERTY_MUST_APPLY_TO_FILES occurs when a classification rule or file-management condition requires a property that is defined only for folders. FSRM property definitions carry applicability metadata, so a matching name and value type are not sufficient.
Use a property with the correct scope
- Inspect the property definition applicability instead of changing the rule path.
- Choose or create a file-applicable definition with the required type and allowed values.
- Update every rule and job that references the incompatible property before deleting or deprecating it.
A folder property can influence namespace management without being a valid per-file classification field. Copying the same display name into a new definition can also produce two different identities. Create the replacement deliberately, migrate consumers, synchronize it where Active Directory resource properties are involved, and then test both existing and newly classified files.
