CERTSRV_E_BAD_RENEWAL_CERT_ATTRIBUTE The renewal request contains an invalid reference to the prior certificate. AD CS cannot use that attribute to verify that this is a valid renewal.
What to check
- Confirm that the old certificate is the intended predecessor and that its identifying attribute was preserved correctly.
- Check whether the template allows renewal in the requested mode, including key-based renewal where applicable.
- Regenerate the renewal request from the original certificate context instead of reusing a stale or hand-edited request file.
