SCARD_E_UNEXPECTED An unexpected smart-card error occurred that does not map to a more specific PC/SC status. The value alone is insufficient for diagnosis; capture the reader, card state, active protocol, and the operation that failed.
Useful evidence
- Record the API call, reader name, ATR, active protocol, and any APDU status words without logging PINs or key material.
- Check Smart Card service and reader/minidriver events at the same timestamp.
- Reproduce with the same card and reader after reconnecting; if it is reproducible, collect the vendor-supported diagnostic trace.
