WU_E_BAD_FILE_URL means the URL supplied for update content did not identify a usable file resource. The client may have received a directory, an HTML error page, a redirect to an unexpected location, or malformed metadata.
What to check
- Find the exact URL and response details in the update log or managed-server logs.
- Verify that the published content path maps to the intended update file and that any proxy does not rewrite it incorrectly.
- Check whether the same content URL works for a healthy client under the same policy.
