WU_E_PT_ENDPOINT_UNREACHABLE

WU_E_PT_ENDPOINT_UNREACHABLE indicates that there was no usable route or network connectivity to the service endpoint. It does not by itself distinguish DNS, proxy, firewall, or a server outage.

How to investigate

  • Determine the configured update endpoint first; in managed environments this can be an intranet WSUS server rather than the public Windows Update service.
  • Check name resolution, routing, firewall policy, and the system WinHTTP proxy for that exact endpoint.
  • Capture the nearby Windows Update log entries: a more specific nested WinHTTP or HTTP status often identifies the failing layer.
