WU_E_PT_QUOTA_EXCEEDED
WU_E_PT_QUOTA_EXCEEDED means that the Windows Web Services layer rejected an operation because a configured limit was exceeded. The relevant limit may concern a message, buffer, reader, or service-side workload.
What to check
- Determine whether the limit was reached on the client, WSUS server, proxy, or another intermediary before increasing any quota.
- Check for unusually large or malformed metadata responses and for repeated retries that amplify load.
- Keep the response and server logs for the same timestamp; this code does not name the quota that was exceeded.
