WU_E_AU_OOBE_IN_PROGRESS
WU_E_AU_OOBE_IN_PROGRESS means the request arrived while Windows Welcome (the out-of-box experience) was still running. Automatic Updates intentionally defers the request until initial setup finishes.
What to do
- Complete OOBE and sign in normally; do not attempt to bypass setup state by editing update configuration manually.
- After the device finishes setup and any required restart, run a new update scan.
- For image deployment, schedule update actions after the enrollment and first-logon flow has completed.
