FVE_E_NO_MBR_METRIC indicates that BitLocker could not obtain the master boot record measurement expected in a legacy BIOS/MBR startup path. It is relevant to measured boot integrity, not to ordinary data-drive encryption.
What to check
- Identify whether the device is using legacy BIOS/MBR or UEFI/GPT before changing boot settings.
- Preserve the BitLocker recovery key before a firmware, bootloader, or partition-layout repair.
- Use a supported Windows recovery process if the boot path is damaged; do not edit boot records merely to bypass BitLocker.
