FVE_E_SECURE_KEY_REQUIRED

FVE_E_SECURE_KEY_REQUIRED means that the requested operation requires a secure BitLocker key protector. A clear key used while protection is suspended does not provide the protection required for every management operation.

How to investigate

  • Inspect the volume status and configured key protectors before changing protection settings.
  • Ensure the required recovery, password, startup, or TPM-based protector has been created and backed up according to the organization policy.
  • Do not remove an existing protector until a usable recovery method has been verified for the same volume.
