FVE_E_PROTECTION_DISABLED
FVE_E_PROTECTION_DISABLED means that the volume remains encrypted, but BitLocker protection has been suspended. In this state the configured protectors are effectively bypassed by a clear key so that the machine can restart through an expected maintenance change.
How to investigate
- Check whether a planned firmware, boot, or operating-system maintenance workflow suspended protection.
- Resume BitLocker protection after the approved maintenance is complete and confirm the expected protectors are active.
- Do not interpret suspension as decryption; the volume remains encrypted, but its pre-boot protection state is temporarily weaker.
