FVE_E_FOREIGN_VOLUME
FVE_E_FOREIGN_VOLUME means that BitLocker cannot apply a TPM protector to the selected data volume. TPM-based startup protection is associated with the operating-system volume; data volumes use other supported unlock mechanisms.
How to investigate
- Confirm whether the target is the running operating-system volume or a fixed/removable data volume.
- For data volumes, select an appropriate supported protector or configured auto-unlock workflow instead of a TPM startup protector.
- Keep a recovery method available before changing any volume protector configuration.
