FVE_E_PROTECTOR_NOT_FOUND

FVE_E_PROTECTOR_NOT_FOUND means that the protector identifier or protector type supplied to BitLocker does not exist on the target volume. It can also occur when a valid protector identifier is used for the wrong drive.

How to investigate

  • Confirm the selected volume and list its current protectors before issuing a remove, update, or backup request.
  • Copy protector identifiers from the current volume status rather than reusing IDs from another device or deployment record.
  • Do not remove other protectors while attempting to locate a missing one; preserve at least one verified recovery path.
