How to investigate

Check that all eight groups of digits were copied from the recovery record for the affected volume.
Use the recovery key ID displayed by BitLocker to select the correct recovery record when several are stored.
Do not disclose recovery passwords in tickets, chat transcripts, or unprotected logs.
