FVE_E_POLICY_RECOVERY_PASSWORD_NOT_ALLOWED
FVE_E_POLICY_RECOVERY_PASSWORD_NOT_ALLOWED The selected BitLocker configuration tries to add a numerical recovery-password protector, but the effective policy for this drive type forbids it. A recovery password is the 48-digit recovery method, not the regular drive password or startup PIN.
What to check
- Check the effective BitLocker recovery policy for the drive type: operating-system, fixed-data, or removable-data drive.
- Compare the requested protector with the policy. Choose an allowed recovery method, or have the policy owner change the requirement.
- Do not remove an existing working recovery protector until another approved recovery method has been verified and escrowed.
manage-bde -protectors -get <drive>
Microsoft: Configure BitLocker policy settings
Microsoft: manage-bde -protectors
