STATUS_VALIDATE_CONTINUE
The validator has not reached a final decision
STATUS_VALIDATE_CONTINUE tells the caller that validation should proceed to another stage. It is an intermediate protocol result, not a successful acceptance and not necessarily a rejection.
Correct state-machine behavior
- Advance only to the next documented validation phase.
- Preserve accumulated context and evidence between phases.
- Apply a bounded step count so malformed input cannot cause an endless loop.
- Return a final success or failure only after the validator says processing is complete.
Common bug
Generic wrappers sometimes treat every nonnegative status as final success. That can bypass later checks. Handle this value explicitly and log the current validation stage when diagnosing incomplete or inconsistent decisions.
