The changer destination already contains media
The requested robotic move targeted a slot, drive, or IE port that is occupied. Moving another cartridge there would overwrite the inventory model or create a mechanical collision, so the changer rejects the operation.
Identify the existing cartridge and determine whether it belongs there, must be returned to its home slot, or is the result of stale inventory. Use an explicit exchange operation only when the library supports it and both source and destination identities are known.
What to inspect
- Record destination address, resident volume tag, requested source, and job owner.
- Refresh inventory and reconcile cartridges that are not in their expected slots.
- Do not issue a blind exchange or overwrite the cataloged destination state.
