STATUS_LOST_MODE_LOGON_RESTRICTION

Lost Mode blocks this logon path until administrative recovery

Lost Mode is an administrative protection state for a missing or stolen managed device. The status indicates that sign-in is intentionally restricted by that state, rather than rejected because the account password is invalid.

Do not attempt to bypass the lock with local account changes. Verify device management ownership, connectivity, and the recovery action issued by an authorized administrator. The user-facing message can also require the device to contact its management service before normal sign-in is restored.

What to inspect

  • Confirm the device identity and Lost Mode state in the management console.
  • Check the last successful management sync and current network connectivity.
  • Have an authorized administrator disable Lost Mode or perform the documented recovery action, then force policy synchronization.
