NS_E_NET_WRITE
NS_E_NET_WRITE: the failing boundary
NS_E_NET_WRITE (0xC00D0014) means Error writing to the network. The important boundary is network write; do not replace this result with a broader “Windows Media failed” diagnosis.
What this result proves
This code proves that a write to the selected network transport failed after the transport path had been chosen. It does not, by itself, prove a codec, permissions, network, device, or media problem outside that boundary. Preserve the first lower-level result when one exists, because later Player or Encoder errors can hide the original cause.
Evidence and focused verification
Record bytes requested/completed, peer, protocol, and the first socket or transport error; distinguish a write failure from an earlier connect failure. Keep the media object, endpoint, profile, or device identity fixed while changing only that rejected precondition. A successful retest should pass this exact boundary; a different HRESULT from a later stage is new evidence, not recurrence of NS_E_NET_WRITE.
