NS_E_WALKER_UNKNOWN
What NS_E_WALKER_UNKNOWN means
NS_E_WALKER_UNKNOWN (0xC00D004C) means no available file walker recognized the input well enough for Windows Media Services to identify its file type.
Evidence to preserve
Preserve the first bytes or a hash of the input, path/URL, extension, content type, and which registered walkers were tried.
Interpretation
The key distinction is identification: the service has not yet reached normal stream decoding. A corrupt or mislabeled file can therefore produce this result before codec selection.
Recovery and verification
Use correctly identified supported media or repair the parser registration that should recognize it, then repeat type detection on the unchanged test sample.
