NS_E_NO_DEVICE
What NS_E_NO_DEVICE tells you
The result NS_E_NO_DEVICE (0xC00D0071) means no usable audio or media device is available for the requested Windows Media operation. The name is useful only when tied to the object and state that produced it; neighboring HRESULTs in the same subsystem can represent later stages.
Build a minimal reproduction
Record enumerated endpoints, default-role selection, device state, session context, PnP changes, and whether the requested device ID still exists.
Keep those inputs stable while testing one prerequisite at a time. Restore or select a present enabled device and repeat the original open; a bad format on a present device is a different result.
