NS_E_DVD_MACROVISION
Analog copy protection could not be enabled
NS_E_DVD_MACROVISION (0xC00D1167) indicates that the protected DVD path could not enable the analog copy-protection requirement on the active display output. This is not a generic decoder failure and does not mean the disc cannot be read.
Evidence to collect
Record active renderer, graphics adapter/driver version, connector/output type, protection negotiation result, and whether another display path is active. Preserve the first protection HRESULT returned while the graph is being built.
Targeted retest
Use a supported graphics driver and output path capable of the required protection, then rebuild the DVD graph. Avoid disabling protection mechanisms or substituting an unprotected path as a “fix”; the goal is to establish a compliant output path and confirm the same disc advances past protection negotiation.
