Verify capability rather than connectivity
Record device identity, transport, storage functions, Windows Media Device Manager capabilities, and whether the device exposes a sync partnership. A successful Explorer copy only proves storage access; it does not prove support for Player synchronization.
Use the supported workflow
If the device is manual-transfer only, use its supported file-copy workflow instead of forcing Player sync. If the model should support sync, correct its driver/provider configuration and re-enumerate the same device before creating a partnership.
