NS_E_UNEXPECTED_DISPLAY_SETTINGS: screen capture detected display geometry or color-depth changes after capture was configured

NS_E_UNEXPECTED_DISPLAY_SETTINGS (0xC00D1B88) identifies a specific Windows Media/platform boundary: screen capture detected display geometry or color-depth changes after capture was configured. Keep this stage visible instead of collapsing it into a generic playback, network, or configuration failure.

Evidence to preserve

Record monitor topology, resolution/DPI/color depth, remote-session transitions, display-change timestamps, and the capture rectangle negotiated before the change.

Controlled verification

Restore the expected display configuration or rebuild capture after the display change, then verify streaming starts with freshly negotiated geometry.
