MF_E_SOURCERESOLVER_MUTUALLY_EXCLUSIVE_FLAGS
MF_E_SOURCERESOLVER_MUTUALLY_EXCLUSIVE_FLAGS is a caller-side flag error. The Source Resolver validates dwFlags before or during resolution and rejects combinations whose requested behavior is contradictory.
Decode the complete flag mask
For CreateObjectFromByteStream, request a media source with MF_RESOLUTION_MEDIASOURCE; Microsoft explicitly says the call should not contain MF_RESOLUTION_BYTESTREAM. The resolver flag documentation also defines MF_RESOLUTION_CONTENT_DOES_NOT_HAVE_TO_MATCH_EXTENSION_OR_MIME_TYPE and MF_RESOLUTION_KEEP_BYTE_STREAM_ALIVE_ON_FAIL as mutually exclusive.
Log the hexadecimal mask at the call site and expand every bit symbolically. Do not remove random flags until the HRESULT disappears: the two retry-related flags describe a deliberate two-step network resolution scenario, while MEDIASOURCE versus BYTESTREAM controls the requested object type. Fix the mask where it is assembled.
