MF_E_INVALID_WORKQUEUE

MF_E_INVALID_WORKQUEUE is a concrete work-queue identifier error. Media Foundation could not use the queue ID supplied for asynchronous dispatch. MFPutWorkItem, MFPutWorkItemEx, and related queue APIs document this HRESULT explicitly.

Validate the queue ID and its lifetime

  • Log the numeric queue identifier at allocation, assignment to a callback or component, every enqueue operation, and queue unlock.
  • Distinguish a standard platform identifier from a private queue returned by MFAllocateWorkQueue or MFAllocateWorkQueueEx.
  • Check for stale IDs used after MFUnlockWorkQueue, uninitialized queue fields, truncation, or a callback returning an inappropriate queue through its scheduling parameters.

The standard queue identifiers have defined values and usage rules; private queue IDs are created by allocation APIs and must be unlocked when no longer needed. Do not investigate this HRESULT as a media-format problem. A packet capture or codec replacement will not explain why the dispatcher received an unusable queue identifier.
