MF_E_CAPTURE_ENGINE_ALL_EFFECTS_REMOVED

MF_E_CAPTURE_ENGINE_ALL_EFFECTS_REMOVED reports a specific consequence of rebuilding or changing the capture topology: effects that had been added to capture streams no longer fit the new path and were removed.

Compare the topology before and after the change

  • Record the stream index and every effect added through IMFCaptureSource::AddEffect.
  • Dump the current device media type before changing it and the new type after SetCurrentDeviceMediaType.
  • Record the sink streams and output media types, plus hardware-transform and DXVA-related Capture Engine attributes.

The capture sink documentation describes hard constraints for native JPEG image streams and native H.264 record streams; H.264 record passthrough cannot be combined with effects, and effects on a JPEG image stream require changing the native type to an uncompressed video type first. Re-add an effect only after verifying that it accepts the new stream/media type. Blindly restoring every old effect can recreate the same incompatible topology.
