STATUS_GRAPHICS_DDCCI_INVALID_MESSAGE_LENGTH

STATUS_GRAPHICS_DDCCI_INVALID_MESSAGE_LENGTH identifies an invalid DDC/CI message length field. This is a framing error: the receiver cannot safely use the field to determine the message boundaries for the monitor-control transaction.

It should not be collapsed into a generic invalid-data report. A precise length-field result can indicate a serialization defect, a truncated response, or an unexpected payload shape at the DDC/CI boundary.

Safe diagnostic handling

  • Record the advertised length and the actual byte count if the layer exposes both.
  • Do not parse feature values from the same message after the length field has been rejected.
  • Keep this separate from checksum failure: a checksum can only be meaningfully evaluated once message boundaries are defined.
