STATUS_FVE_PIN_INVALID

This is specific to a TPM-and-PIN protector. It does not mean that a 48-digit BitLocker recovery password is invalid, and it should not be handled by guessing at recovery keys or changing unrelated volume metadata.

Verify that the preboot prompt is for the intended operating-system volume and that the configured PIN policy and input method match the registered protector. In managed environments, confirm the expected protector type before a user is instructed to reset or replace anything.

Repeated unsuccessful attempts can complicate TPM access and recovery. Use the authorised recovery procedure when the correct PIN is unavailable, then investigate the protector and policy state after access is restored.
