STATUS_NDIS_INVALID_PORT

The request names an invalid NDIS port

STATUS_NDIS_INVALID_PORT concerns an NDIS port number within a miniport, not a TCP or UDP port. A miniport can expose and manage ports, and operations that target a missing port or an invalid port set cannot be applied to the adapter.

Port activation and deactivation have explicit rules. For example, NDIS rejects a deactivation set that includes a nonexistent port, and the default port has additional constraints. The correct evidence is the miniport’s allocated and activated port inventory.

Evidence that narrows it

  • Capture every requested NDIS_PORT_NUMBER, the operation, and the current allocated or activated state.
  • For default-port operations, check whether the request includes only that port as required by the NDIS contract.
  • Do not confuse an invalid NDIS port with a missing network interface or an unavailable physical network medium.
