STATUS_HV_INVALID_CONNECTION_ID

The connection handle cannot be resolved before message delivery

STATUS_HV_INVALID_CONNECTION_ID means the supplied connection identifier is not valid for the hypervisor operation. In the message-posting path, Hyper-V uses the connection to locate a destination port; no message can be queued until that resolution succeeds.

Keep this separate from STATUS_HV_INVALID_PORT_ID. A connection can be invalid because it was never created, was deleted, belongs to a different context, or is stale; an invalid port status says a connection resolved but its destination is unusable for the operation.

What to verify

  • Connection creation result, owner, ID lifetime and deletion event.
  • The destination port and partition recorded when the connection was created.
  • Whether a reconnect path retains IDs from a previous endpoint instance.
  • Synchronization between sender teardown and outstanding message submissions.
