STATUS_HV_NOT_ACKNOWLEDGED

Interrupt delivery is waiting for the required acknowledgement

STATUS_HV_NOT_ACKNOWLEDGED indicates an ordering violation around virtual interrupt handling: the prior interrupt has not yet been acknowledged. It is not equivalent to a missing connection or an unavailable CPU. The guest must complete the interrupt acknowledgement path before an operation that depends on that state can continue.

On x64, Hyper-V documents EOI handling through the virtual APIC/SynIC model and an EOI assist page. Diagnose the actual acknowledgement sequence, including any interrupt masking or handler stall, rather than adding extra posts or assuming the interrupt was lost.

What to trace

  • The interrupt/vector, destination VP and timestamp of delivery.
  • Guest interrupt-handler entry, EOI/acknowledgement action and completion.
  • Interrupt masking, priority and concurrent virtual-interrupt activity.
  • The operation that observed the unacknowledged state and its ordering requirements.
