STATUS_RDBSS_RESTART_OPERATION

RDBSS requested a controlled restart of the operation

RDBSS coordinates file-system requests with a network mini-redirector and maintains connection, name, open-file, and buffering state. During processing, state can change in a way that invalidates assumptions made earlier in the request. This internal status tells the RDBSS path to restart rather than complete with stale objects.

It is normally consumed inside the redirector stack. If it escapes to a caller or repeats indefinitely, inspect the mini-redirector state machine, resource acquisition, and restart counters.

What to inspect

Log the IRP major function, RX_CONTEXT state, restart count, and mini-redirector callback that returned the status.
Check whether connection, FCB, SRV_OPEN, or buffering state changed during the request.
Verify that restart cleanup releases references and locks acquired by the abandoned attempt.
Detect loops by imposing diagnostic counters rather than converting the status to generic I/O failure immediately.
