STATUS_BTH_ATT_INVALID_HANDLE

The server could not resolve the requested attribute handle

STATUS_BTH_ATT_INVALID_HANDLE is the Windows NTSTATUS form of ATT error 0x01. ATT uses a 16-bit handle to address a specific attribute; the error says that the request cannot be applied to that handle in the peer's current attribute database.

This is different from a permission failure. The server did not reject a valid attribute because of read, write, pairing, or authorization rules; it rejected the address itself. Cached handle values are a common diagnostic lead when the peripheral firmware, service layout, or connection state has changed.

What to check

Record the ATT request opcode, the handle sent, the device address, the service and characteristic UUID expected by the client, and whether discovery was performed on this connection.
Re-run service and characteristic discovery before substituting another handle. A nearby numeric handle is not evidence that it names the same attribute.
For a device whose GATT database can change, make cache invalidation and service-change handling part of the client design rather than retrying the old request indefinitely.
