Not every HD Audio widget has a programmable or enumerable connection list. The widget capability bits and node type determine whether a connection-list length and entries are valid. This status is returned when software requests that information from a node that does not support it.
The cause can be an incorrect assumption in codec-specific driver logic, a wrong node ID, or topology data interpreted using the wrong codec revision. Retrying the same verb cannot add a capability the widget does not advertise.
What to inspect
- Read the widget capability parameter before issuing connection-list verbs.
- Confirm the node ID and widget type selected by the codec parser.
- Check codec-specific overrides for assumptions copied from another hardware revision.
- Build routing from the supported widget topology instead of treating every node as a selector or mixer.
