What does NTSTATUS 0xC0E70015 (STATUS_SPACES_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION) mean?

STATUS_SPACES_MAP_REQUIRED STATUS_SPACES_CORRUPT_METADATA

STATUS_SPACES_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION

Do not treat this as an ordinary volume-format problem

This status concerns Storage Spaces metadata compatibility. The current provider cannot interpret the version it encountered. Formatting a filesystem, recreating a drive letter, or running a file-system checker does not make unsupported pool metadata compatible and can make recovery harder.

Preserve evidence and choose a compatible host

  • Record the Windows version, Storage provider, pool members, and any recent move or upgrade before modifying the pool.
  • Use a Windows version and storage stack that supports the metadata rather than attempting an undocumented downgrade or manual metadata edit.
  • Avoid initialization, reset, or removal actions until the recovery path for the existing pool is understood.
