ippStsBitOffsetErr

This is a bitstream-reader contract error. Many codec primitives consume fields that are not byte-aligned; the current bit offset must still be within the accepted range for the operation.

A wrong offset can make all subsequent VLC, header, or coefficient parsing look corrupt even when the original stream is valid.

Diagnostic focus

  • Trace the bit offset before and after each header or entropy-decoding step.
  • Check whether the caller reset the reader at a byte boundary while the format expects a bit boundary.
  • Correlate this status with earlier skipped extension fields or optional headers.
