ippStsStreamEnd

Stop at the stream boundary

ippStsStreamEnd tells a data-compression caller that the current compressed stream has completed. It should normally terminate the decode loop for that member even when input bytes remain. Remaining bytes can belong to a container trailer, another concatenated member, or unrelated following data.

Continuing to feed the completed decoder state as though more output were required can turn valid trailing data into a misleading corruption error.

What to verify

  • Record total input consumed and output produced at the exact stream-end transition.
  • Validate any checksum or trailer required by the surrounding format.
  • Decide explicitly whether concatenated streams are allowed and reinitialize state before processing the next one.
  • Distinguish stream end from source exhaustion: a short source buffer does not prove that the logical stream ended.
