ERROR_CTX_SECURITY_LAYER_ERROR
ERROR_CTX_SECURITY_LAYER_ERROR means the RDS security layer detected an invalid or unexpected protocol stream and disconnected the client. Common causes include TLS/certificate problems, incompatible encryption settings, a damaged client stack, or an intermediary that breaks the RDP stream.
What to check
- Compare the RDP client version and security settings with a client that succeeds against the same host.
- Review the Session Host certificate, private key, and the effective RDS security/encryption policies.
- Check whether a VPN, gateway, proxy, or inspection device is present only on the failing network path.
Test-NetConnection -ComputerName rd-session-host -Port 3389
