ERROR_DS_DRA_INTERNAL_ERROR (8442) is an Active Directory replication error. The DRS subsystem reported an internal condition for which it did not return a more specific replication code. The first Directory Service event or nested error around the same timestamp is more useful than the wrapper code.

What to check

Collect repadmin /showrepl output and Directory Service events from both partners before restarting services or changing topology.
Check whether the error is limited to one naming context or appears on every inbound partner.
