ERROR_DS_CANT_FIND_DC_FOR_SRC_DOMAIN
ERROR_DS_CANT_FIND_DC_FOR_SRC_DOMAIN (8537) is an Active Directory Domain Services error. A cross-domain operation needs a reachable domain controller in the source domain, but none could be located. This can be caused by DNS discovery, trust, site topology, or a domain that no longer has an available DC.
What to check
- Verify DNS resolution and domain-controller locator records for the source domain.
- Confirm that the source domain has a reachable writable DC and that trusts are healthy where required.
- For a cross-domain move, use the source and target RID Masters as required by Move-ADObject.
Useful command
nltest /dsgetdc:<source.domain>
