STATUS_WX86_UNSIMULATE
An internal x86 emulation transition was requested
STATUS_WX86_UNSIMULATE belongs to the Windows x86 emulation subsystem. It is used as a control status while transitioning out of simulated execution and is normally consumed inside the emulation machinery rather than handled by application code.
When it becomes visible
- A debugger or crash dump exposes an internal exception before the emulator handles it.
- A compatibility layer, injected module, or exception hook interferes with normal dispatch.
- Old x86 software is running under an unsupported or partially configured emulation environment.
What to do
Preserve the original exception chain and inspect the first external module that altered it. Avoid swallowing the status in a broad exception handler. Update or remove compatibility software and reproduce without injection, instrumentation, or legacy shims.
