STATUS_WX86_EXCEPTION_CHAIN
The status represents exception-chain control flow
STATUS_WX86_EXCEPTION_CHAIN is emitted by the Windows x86 emulation subsystem while walking or coordinating an exception chain. It is primarily meaningful to the emulator and system exception dispatcher.
If it escapes its expected path
- Inspect custom unhandled-exception filters and vectored exception handlers.
- Check for stack corruption or an invalid exception-registration record.
- Disable software that injects into 32-bit processes.
- Capture a full dump before any recovery code modifies the chain.
Engineering note
Exception handlers must preserve the platform's chaining rules. Rewriting records, returning unsupported dispositions, or continuing after stack damage can expose internal emulator statuses that would otherwise remain invisible.
