VFW_E_BUFFER_OVERFLOW
VFW_E_BUFFER_OVERFLOW is a DirectShow HRESULT. The current allocator configuration cannot hold the sample or format block being delivered. For video this often comes from an incorrect stride or frame-size calculation; for audio it can come from block alignment or a format change.
How to diagnose it
- Compare the delivered sample length with the allocator's actual buffer size.
- Recalculate requirements after a negotiated media-type change, especially for uncompressed video dimensions and stride.
- If the format changed dynamically, stop and renegotiate the affected connection when the filters do not support in-stream changes.
Increasing a buffer blindly can hide a format mismatch. Validate the media type and expected sample size first.
