VSS_E_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE
VSS_E_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE VSS could not allocate storage for the shadow-copy data or its storage file. The problem can be free capacity on the source or storage volume, a diff-area quota, or a provider limitation.
What to check
- Check free space and the current shadow-storage association for the source volume.
- Determine whether the backup workload changed substantially, for example because a large database or virtual disk is now changing during the snapshot window.
- If you must resize shadow storage, plan it carefully because Microsoft warns that resizing an association can cause existing shadow copies to disappear.
