VSS_E_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE VSS could not allocate storage for the shadow-copy data or its storage file. The problem can be free capacity on the source or storage volume, a diff-area quota, or a provider limitation.

What to check

Check free space and the current shadow-storage association for the source volume.
Determine whether the backup workload changed substantially, for example because a large database or virtual disk is now changing during the snapshot window.
If you must resize shadow storage, plan it carefully because Microsoft warns that resizing an association can cause existing shadow copies to disappear.
