VSS_E_CLUSTER_ERROR
VSS_E_CLUSTER_ERROR VSS could not enumerate clustered disks or place them into cluster maintenance mode. The cluster state needs to be fixed before a consistent VSS backup can proceed.
What to check
- Review System and Failover Clustering events together with VSS Application events at the failure time.
- Confirm that the disks are online, healthy, and owned by the expected cluster role, and that the cluster can enter the required maintenance state.
- Check CSV and quorum/storage health before retrying; a generic VSS restart does not correct a cluster-storage problem.
